Even when I was a young woman, we thought nothing of chucking all kinds of garbage and sewage into the rivers or seas around Britain. We Europeans did the same for many years, ...Me too. We Europeans did the same for many years, the Thames in the UK was a filthy river, as was the Medway which is a tributory. Now the rivers have fish again and the water often looks blue. No longer muddy, dirty, brown.
