From shining sea to shining sea...

...across the world's third largest island.
Taking off from Lahad Datu, east coast of Sabah, Borneo
Mangroves, coastal protection and the nursery for so much sea life
The death of irreplaceable rainforest, the birth of monoculture oil palm and wealth and your soap
What was there before the oilpalm - rainforest and a remarkable biodiversity
Coming in to landing at Kota Kinabalu on the west coast

I use Dove, does that require use of oil palm?

Probably. It's in just about all detergents and many many other things - cosmetics, lubricating grease and oils, cooking oils and margarines, candles, printing ink, glue, for example.

Without the oil palm industry, countries like Malaysia would be screwed. But the enviromental impact of replacing rainforest with monoculture of any kind is heartbreaking too...

Its one of those Catch 22 situations I guess. The needs of the human race tend to be destructive in the end.
