...Writing fantasy and living the reality of a tropical environmentalist
About Me
- Glenda Larke
- Malaysia
- My life has been described by one of my editors as “impossibly exotic” – although really it is not my life, but me, that’s the exotic. I’m the uprooted plant, the exotic who doesn’t belong, always living in someone else’s backyard...
An Australian living in Malaysia. Writer, traveler, environmentalist. Author of The Isles of Glory trilogy (The Aware, Gilfeather, The Tainted); The Mirage Makers trilogy (Heart of the Mirage, The Shadow of Tyr, Song of the Shiver Barrens) and, writing as Glenda Noramly, a stand-alone book Havenstar.
The latest trilogy is called The Watergivers in Australia and the Stormlord trilogy elsewhere. Book One, THE LAST STORMLORD, is already out; Book Two, STORMLORD RISING, is out in US and Australia and will come out in UK at the beginning of November 2010; Book Three, STORMLORD'S EXILE, will be out in all three countries in August 2011, or earlier.
Cover art by Vincent Chong for the Oz covers and by Larry Rostant for the US/UK covers (Book 1) and Steve Stone (Book 2).

Just shows you, there is a down side to being a really successful author. I am one of those who is also awaiting that book and at my age its a toss up who will go first, me or the author. I must say that's why I like trilogies, they come out more quickly. I was also one of those who was devastated by the death of Robert Jordan although I think Sanderson has done a very good job with the first part of the finale.
The downside is when you have a deadline in 8 days and the book is not ready yet...
I can understand readers' impatience but I also feel that writers need to have a life in order to be able to write their best. They would stagnate if all they had to do was sit down and write with no other interaction! : ) No wonder George gets a little irritated if people are pointing out how 'old and fat' he is!
You're right Jackie, one tends to forget that authors have a life as well and wouldn't write so well if they didn't.
Wish I could help you Glenda, I'm a good proof reader, but that's not what you want. Best of luck with your deadline.
