Well the Aurealis best fantasy went to a West Australian author - unfortunately not me! Sigh. I shall try again.
Congrats to Juliet Marillier and the other category winners, especially Shaun Tan for an extraordinary work, "The Arrival". If you have not seen this, take a look. Buy it for your kids. Buy it for your friends. Keep one for yourself. It is a very special work.
...Writing fantasy and living the reality of a tropical environmentalist
About Me
- Glenda Larke
- Malaysia
- My life has been described by one of my editors as “impossibly exotic” – although really it is not my life, but me, that’s the exotic. I’m the uprooted plant, the exotic who doesn’t belong, always living in someone else’s backyard...
An Australian living in Malaysia. Writer, traveler, environmentalist. Author of The Isles of Glory trilogy (The Aware, Gilfeather, The Tainted); The Mirage Makers trilogy (Heart of the Mirage, The Shadow of Tyr, Song of the Shiver Barrens) and, writing as Glenda Noramly, a stand-alone book Havenstar. The latest trilogy is called The Watergivers in Australia and the Stormlord trilogy elsewhere: THE LAST STORMLORD, STORMLORD RISING, STORMLORD'S EXILE

Juliet's a tough act to topple, Glenda - but your turn will come. I really, really do believe that. Yes, Shaun Tan is brilliant - the Renaissance Man! It must be something in the water in WA:-)
Hey, to be nominated three times for an Aurealis is quite an achievement already, and we're proud of you for that! It underlines the fact that you're producing consistently good work and in the running with the best. :o)
Big hugs. I so wanted it to be your year.
Ah, well.
Next year!!!!
Yeah you are ace! So don't fret. One day you'll conquer the world and forget about us! Donna who?
Think about all the other novels that weren't nominated.
I was sitting up there in the theatre fingers crossed for you, Glenda. Sorry it didn't work. Next time.
Thanks, folk - I will write that special book one day, that will take the whole world by storm...*g*
Maybe you've written that book already, and the world just hasn't woken up to the fact ... yet. :o)
